Rio Oja

We say La Rioja is famous thanks to our wine, the cradle of Spanish language, it is also on the “Camino de Santiago”, as well being famous for its food. For all this, Rioja is known around the world. But this place that we love, would be nothing without its people. Our wish is that you will see more than the monuments, wineries, and landscape: that you will discover behind all these things, the people. Join us and be Riojan for a day.

You will discover our history, enjoy some of the best wine in the world, and eat like a king or Queen. The Riojans are famous for being happy, loyal and hospitable. And you will discover just why this land marks us out in a special way.

We offer local guides who will speak both Spanish and English. When you join us, everything is included, so all you have think about is to enjoy yourself. And after the tour, not only will you will you  understand us and the area better, but will have discovered  a few “secrets” as well to enjoy Rioja, but like a real Riojan.

– Wines & Castles (Sajazarra – Cuzcurrita de río Tirón – Haro)

We will stroll in historic villages with magnificent ancient buildings. The streets and castles will transport you to different times. We will also visit two of the best wineries of the area, where we will stop to sample two wines at each one, not forgetting to visit the capital of our wine region, Haro.

Included is transport, tickets, wine tasting, a modest picnic and insurance.

  • The triangle of “clarete” (San Millán de la Cogolla – Cordovín – Badarán)

This route is very special. We will experience the original way wine was made in the distant past and visit the origin of the Spanish language, the cradle of the Castilian. Here you will find some of the first words written in Spanish. Plus, We will discover clarete wine, similar to a rosé wine, that was made in Rioja before the influence of French winemaking. This historical wine of the region still has customers happily returning to drink it. And we will, of course, be visiting two wineries to taste their wines.

San Millan de la cogolla

  • Cradle of Castile (San Millán de la Cogolla – Cañas – Santo Domingo de la Calzada)

If you love history and fine architecture, this is the route for you. People know this as the Monastery Way. This is a stroll through our history region and language. We will visit three different places, but each important in the history of the region.

Sto Domingo

  • The Three High Riojas (Haro, Santo Domingo de La Calzada y Ezcaray)

Nobody will tell you there are three high Riojas, but there are! Three areas where the local cultures are so different because of their particular histories. So in Haro, Santo Domingo de la Calzada and Ezcaray, you will discover their unique character. Wine in Haro, Camino de Santiago in Santo Domingo de la Calzada and the beauty of the Oja valley and its majesty of its mountains.

  • La Rioja, The Border Region (Briones – San Vicente de la Sonsierra – Haro)

The Ebro river has always been a natural border between kingdoms and the source of the region´s wealth. We will walk through villages which are full of history and very popular traditions. We will visit a familiar winery in one of the villages where we will experience the wine making process, as well, of course, taste some of the wine. After, We will drink the local vermouth in a historic winery. History, wine and vermouth to make a perfect day.

  • Rioja’s Wine Capital (Haro)

We will visit two very different, but neighbouring, wineries in Haro followed by a stroll to discover the town where you will see the wine culture everywhere, the life blood of the town. We will later enjoy a modest picnic in the countryside nearly and considered the best beauty spot 2014 in Spain.

  • Organic Rioja (Ábalos – San Vicente de la Sonsierra – Labastida)

Rioja also make excellent eco wines, and we want you know it. In fact, Logroño has one of the most important international awards for organic wines (the Ecovino award). We will combine history and ecology by also visiting the rocks where you will discover the traditional but very unusual wine making techniques used in the past. And not forgetting, we will also be visiting the two wineries to sample their eco wines.

tatto peregrino

  • Logroño, The Capital

Our walk will be to discover how a village that people used to just  pass through on the Camino de Santiago and later grew to become a city specializing in hospitality for travellers from around the world. We will be tasting wines in a local winery, but the best is last. We will eat four tapas and drink four wines in the famous Laurel Street where, along with adjoining streets, there are over 150 bars, and where nobody visits without taking home an unforgettable experience.

Included in this tour, tickets, wine tasting, 4 tapas and 4 wines (or other drink) in Laurel Street and insurance.

  • RiojAlavesa

The region called Rioja Alavesa belongs to the Basque Country (Euskadi), although it is also part of La Rioja’s history, culture and above all, love for everything related to wine. We´ll visit Laguardia, a “defensive” town where your eyes will feast on its streets, churches and houses, and its surrounding bucolic landscapes, making it an obligatory stop. As well as experiencing all this, we will, of course, visit two wineries in the area, very different from each other, and taste their excellent wines.
